National Level Hotel Management entrance exam, for students who want to join Institutes of Hotel Management affiliated with NCHMCT.
The NCHMCT – JEE (National Council of Hotel Management and Catering Technology Joint Entrance Examination) is a national level Hotel Management entrance examination conducted by the NCHMCT for the B.Sc. Hospitality & Hotel Administration course of study that is imparted at the existing 21 Central Institutes of Hotel Management, 14 State Government Institutes of Hotel Management and 15 Private Institutes of Hotel Management affiliated with NCHMCT.
The B.Sc Hospitality and Hotel Administration Program is a full time regular course offered jointly by the National Council for Hotel Management and the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). It is one of the most sought after Hotel Management courses in the country. The duration of this program is 3 years.The admissions for this course are based on the scores of candidates in the NCHMCT – JEE. It is one of the most prestigious and competitive Hotel Management Entrance Examinations and is attempted by thousands of candidates annually.
NCHMCT has its colleges and institutions throughout the country including Bhopal, Bengaluru, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Shimla, Srinagar, Jaipur, Goa, Chandigarh, Gandhinagar and Bhubaneswar. It also has State level institutes in Bathinda, Jodhpur, Kurukshetra etc. There are some private Hotel Management Institutes that also come under the ambit of the NCHMCT.
Out of the total seats, 15% seats are reserved for SC candidates and 7.5% seats are reserved for ST candidates in the Central and State Government Hotel Management Institutes. 27% seats are reserved for OBC Candidates (Non – Creamy layer) in Central Hotel Management Institutes. There is one supernumerary seat reserved for Kashmiri Migrants in every State and Central level Hotel Management Institute. 3% seats are reserved for Physically Disabled candidates in all Central and State level Hotel Management Institutes.

What are the eligibility criteria?
You should have passed your Class 12th examinations or its equivalents from a Central/State recognized institution with English as one of your main subjects. It is necessary to have passed English individually.
You will also be eligible for admission if you are appearing for your Class 12th examinations in the same year as the NCHMCT – JEE, provided that you can submit your mark sheet before the specified date. If you fail to do so, your admission will be forfeited.
To be eligible for the NCHMCT – JEE, you should not be more than 22 years of age as on the 1st of July of the examination. This is applicable for General as well as OBC candidates. For SC and ST candidates, this age limit is relaxed by another three years.
You should be deemed medically fit by a registered medical practitioner.

How to apply?
You can apply for the NCHMCT – JEE online as well as offline.

If you’re applying offline, you will have to procure the application form and brochure from the specified affiliated institutes and select branches of the specified bank.

You can obtain your admit cards through the application number of your form. Please note that you have to take two print outs of your admit card. One copy has to be attested by a Gazetted Officer/Head of Institution last attended/Bank Manager of scheduled Bank/Area Post Master and then be deposited with the invigilator for his/her signature. This copy of the admit card has to be used during the counseling. The other copy of the admit card will be used to enter the examination hall.

What is the pattern of the examination?
The duration of the test is 3 hours and it consists of objective type questions in the multiple choice format.
Each question has four options with only one correct answer.
The examination will comprise of a total of 200 questions. The examination will test you on your English Language (60 questions), Aptitude for Service Sector (50 questions), General Knowledge and Current Affairs (30 questions), Reasoning and Logical Deduction (30 questions) and Numerical Ability and Scientific Aptitude (30 questions).
You will be awarded one mark for each right answer.
Do not attempt questions you do not know the answers to as there will be negative marking. 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.
In the ‘Aptitude for Service Sector’ component, as there are no absolutely right or wrong answers, graded marks will be awarded. This means that the most appropriate answer will fetch you one mark, whereas the least appropriate will fetch you 0.25 marks.
The All India Merit List (ranking) will be based on the marks scored by candidates in the NCHMCT JEE written examination only.
