What is the pattern of the examination?

The MH – CET consists of a single paper which consists of 180 objective type questions in the multiple choice format.

Out of these 180 questions, 45 questions are from Physics, 45 questions are from Chemistry and 90 questions are from Biology.

Each question contains 4 options with only one correct answer.

Each correct answer will fetch you four marks. Do not attempt questions you do not know the answers to as there will be negative marking. 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.

The duration of the MH – CET is 3 hours.

The merit list will be prepared on the basis of your marks in the MH – CET.

All candidates who qualify in the MH – CET exam will participate in a counseling procedure to get admission into the medical and dental colleges in Maharashtra.

For further information, please visit the following website: http://www.dmer.org/.

What do you do after you get your results?

The counseling will be conducted for 85% ‘State Quota’ seats in Government and Government Aided Medical and Dental Colleges in Maharashtra. All these seats are reserved only for Maharashtra Domiciles.

Admissions into the remaining 15% seats in Government Medical and Dental colleges in Maharashtra are conducted by the DGHS under the ‘All India Quota’ on the basis of AIPMT results through the following website: http://www.mcc.nic.in/mccres/HomePage.aspx#.

Your goal is to get admission in a  suitable college. The MH – CET test result becomes the basis for the admission.

Once the results are announced, you will have to participate in an offline counseling procedure which is conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER).

All successful candidates will be called for the counseling and filling of ‘Preference Forms’ at specified regional centers across the state. You will need to report at these centers along with originals and copies of all your documents (for verification).

At the center, your documents will be verified and you will be asked to fill in the ‘Preference Form’.

You will have to select the colleges you wish to join in order of preference. Mark your choices/preferences based on two main factors:

1. The colleges you wish to join.

2. The colleges that are likely to admit you based on your rank. Go through the ranks that were admitted by a particular college last year for your course. You can obtain the ranks of last year from the counseling website.

Base your decision on these two factors and make multiple choices to ensure that you receive an admission.

It’s equally important to rank your choices correctly. The highest level choice with an available seat will be allotted to you.

Once the results are out and you’re allotted a seat, you will need to report to the college in due time with originals and attested copies of all your documents and submit the admission fee so as to confirm your seat.

Subsequent rounds of counseling will be conducted for seats that are left vacant after the first round.
