CG – PET (Chattisgarh Pre Engineering Test) is a State Level entrance examination constituted by the Government of Chattisgarh and conducted by the Chattisgarh Professional Examination Board, Raipur for students who want to get into Engineering courses in colleges and institutions situated within Chattisgarh. The CG – PET provides students to join various Government, Private and Government aided colleges within Chattisgarh. Only those students who belong to Chattisgarh will be eligible to appear for this examination. The CG – PET also provides students with the opportunity to seek admission into the B.E (Biotechnology) course (2/3^rd seats). It is a mandatory examination for students who want to get into the Engineering courses within Chattisgarh as students will be admitted only on the basis of their CG – PET ranking. Students who do not belong to Chattisgarh can seek admission only into private engineering colleges within Chattisgarh only on the basis of their JEE (Main) marks, but the number of seats available for such students is very less. Students who do not belong to Chattisgarh can appear for the CG – PET exam only if they want to seek admission into a private engineering college through the management quota.

What are the eligibility criteria?

To be eligible for the CG – PET, you need to be a Citizen of India and a permanent resident of Chattisgarh.

The upper age limit as on the 1^st of July of the year of admission is 30 years. For SC/ST/OBC etc. and women candidates, this limit is relaxed by 3 years.

To be eligible for the CG – PET, you need to have passed your 12^th from a school approved by the Chattisgarh Board of Secondary Education or any other recognized State/Central education board.

You must have passed your Class 12^th exam with Math and Physics as your compulsory subjects. Your third optional subject can be either of the following: Chemistry/Biology/Bio – technology.

Your aggregate percentage in your three main subjects (Physics, Math and Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology) should be not less than 45%. The minimum percentage requirement is 40% for reserved candidates.

You should have also passed each of your three main subjects (Physics, Math and Chemistry/Biology/Biotechnology) individually.

In order to be eligible for admission in the Engineering courses in Chattisgarh, you should have at least secured 10% in the CG – PET in Physics, Chemistry and Math. For reserved candidates, the minimum percentage requirement is 5%.

Students who do not belong to Chattisgarh, can be eligible for admission (limited seats) if they secure at least 10% in the JEE (Main) examination.

How to apply?

The application forms and brochures for CG – PET are available at all the major post offices and within Chattisgarh. You can also procure the application form through post by contacting the Chattisgarh Professional Examination Board, Raipur.

What is the pattern of the examination?

The examination will include three subjects – Physics, Math and Chemistry.

It will be an objective type examination in the multiple choice format. There will be 4 options for each question with only one correct answer.

The duration of the test will be 3 hours.

Do not try to attempt questions you do not have the answers to, as there will be negative marking.

Your rank will be only based on merit.

Your selection will be based on your rank in the CG PET.

What do you do after you get your results?

Your goal is to get admission in a suitable course at a suitable college. The CG – PET test result becomes the basis for the admission.

Once the results are announced, you will have to participate in an online counseling procedure which is conducted by the Chhattisgarh Professional Examination Board through the following website: http://www.mkcl.biz.

The engineering counseling is conducted for all the State Quota seats (100%) in Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges in Chattisgarh and 75% State Quota seats in Private Engineering Colleges in Chattisgarh.

In minority colleges, the counseling is conducted for 50% State Quota seats only.

The remaining 25% seats (50% in the case of minority colleges) are open to candidates from across the country on the basis of their JEE (Main) scores. 

To register on the above website, you will need to deposit a Bank Challan of the specified amount at any branch of the State Bank of India (SBI).

After you make the payment and register on the CG – PET website, you will need to select the courses and colleges you wish to join in order of preference. Mark your choices/preferences based on two main factors:

1. The colleges and courses you seek.

2. The colleges and courses that are likely to admit you based on your rank. Go through the ranks that were admitted by a particular college last year for your course. You can obtain the ranks of last year from the counseling website.

Base your decision on these two factors and make multiple choices to ensure that you receive an admission. There is no limit on the number of choices you can submit.

It’s equally important to rank your choices correctly. The highest level choice with an available seat will be allotted to you.

Once you fill your choices, you will have to report at the designated ‘Verification Center’ with originals and copies of all your documents and get them verified. After the verification, the final submission of your form will take place at the center itself.

After your form has been submitted, you will receive an ‘Acknowledgement cum Option Form’, which serves as a confirmation for your counseling application.

Once you’re allotted a seat, you will need to report to the institute in due time and get your documents verified as well as submit the admission fee to confirm your seat.
