Uttarakhand Pre Medical Test UPMT

State level medical entrance examination, applicable to medical and dental colleges within Uttarakhand, for students who belong to Uttarakhand.

UPMT (Uttarakhand Pre Medical Test) is a State level medical entrance exam for the ‘State Quota’ seats in Medical and Dental colleges in Uttarakhand. It is conducted by the ‘Govind Ballabh Pant Agriculture and Technological University, Uttarakhand’ for students who belong to the state of Uttarakhand.

It is considered to be one of the most important State Level Medical Entrance Examinations in Uttarakhand and provides students with the opportunity to pursue the MBBS/BDS courses in colleges that accept UPMT scores.

Out of the total seats that are available in medical and dental colleges who accept the UPMT, 85% seats are reserved for candidates who belong to Uttarakhand. The remaining 15% seats are open for candidates from across the country and admission into these seats is conducted directly by the CBSE on the basis of the AIPMT.

What are the eligibility criteria?

To be eligible for the UPMT, you should be an Indian National.

You should be a domicile of the state of Uttarakhand and should have passed your Class 10th and Class 12th examinations (or equivalents) from an institution situated in Uttarakhand.

Candidates who are not domiciles of Uttarakhand but have passed their Class 10th and Class 12th examinations (or equivalents) from an institution situated in Uttarakhand are also eligible for the UPMT, but will not get the benefit of reservation.

Candidates who are domiciles of Uttarakhand but have passed their Class 10th and/or Class 12th examinations (or equivalents) from an institution outside Uttarakhand are also eligible for the UPMT.

Additionally, you should not be less than 17 years of age and not more than 25 years of age as on the 31st of December of the year of admission. The upper age limit is relaxed by up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC candidates.

You should have passed your Class 12th or equivalent examinations with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology as your main subjects. Your aggregate percentage in these 3 subjects should be not less than 50% (45% for PH candidates and 40% for reserved candidates). Additionally, you should have passed each of these 3 subjects individually along with English.

Candidates who are going to appear for their Class 12th exam in the same year as the UPMT are also eligible for admission provided that they can submit their final documents before the specified date.

To be eligible for admissions into the MBBS/BDS course, you should have scored not less than 50% in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology taken together in the UPMT (45% for PH candidates and 40% for reserved candidates).

How to apply?

You can apply online by going to: http://admitcardlink.in/upmt15/Default.aspx. You can fill up the application form online and even make a payment of the application fee using a credit/debit card or online banking. If you do not wish to make an online payment, you will need to generate an e-challan online, take a print and pay the fees at an Allahabad Bank near to you. If you pay the fees online, you can submit the online application. If you make a payment through the echallan or demand draft, you will have to send a copy oif the online application and the university copy of the e-challan or demand draft to the H.N.B. Uttarakhand Medical Education University, Dehradun so as to reach them by 30.05.2015. 

What is the pattern of the examination?

The UPMT consists of questions on Physics, Chemistry, Zoology and Botany.

The questions are objective – type in the multiple choice format. Each question contains 4 options with only one correct answer.

The duration of the exam is 3 hours. The merit list will be prepared on the basis of your marks in the UPMT.

All candidates who qualify in the UPMT exam will participate in a counseling procedure to get admission into a medical/dental college in Uttarakhand which accepts UPMT scores.

 

What do you do after you get your results?

The counseling will be conducted for 85% ‘State Quota’ seats in Government and Government Aided Medical and Dental Colleges in Uttarakhand. All these seats are reserved only for Uttarakhand Domiciles.

Admissions into the remaining 15% seats in Government Medical and Dental colleges in Uttarakhand are conducted by the DGHS under the ‘All India Quota’ on the basis of AIPMT results through the following website: http://www.mcc.nic.in/mccres/HomePage.aspx#.

Admissions into Private Medical and Dental colleges in Uttarakhand are conducted on the basis of a separate entrance exam, known as the ‘CPMEE’.

Your goal is to get admission in a suitable college. The UPMT test result becomes the basis for the admission.

Once the results are announced, you will have to participate in a counseling procedure which is conducted by the Govind Ballabh Pant Agriculture and Technological University, Uttarakhand.

The University will create a merit list on the basis of the marks of the candidates in the UPMT examination.

You will be required to register yourself for the counseling through the method as specified on the university website.

Before you report for the counseling, make sure you research in detail about the colleges you can join through this counseling procedure. You should be clear about at least your top choices/preference before you step in the hall for counseling.

On the day of the counseling, you will need to reach the specified venue with originals and copies of all your documents (Class 10th and 12th mark sheets, UPMT admit card etc.).

Once the counseling begins, you will be allowed to choose the college you wish to join from the ones that offer your course and are available for your rank at that point of time on the basis of your UPMT score.

After you’ve been allotted a seat, you will need to report to the college in due time with originals and attested copies of all your documents and submit the admission fee so as to confirm your seat.

Another round of counseling will be conducted for seats that are left vacant after the first round.
