Odisha does not have its own medical entrance examination. Students are admitted in Medical and Dental colleges in Odisha on the basis of their results in the AIPMT (All India Pre Medical Test).
Admissions into the MBBS/BDS/BHMS/BAMS courses take place through an online counseling procedure that is conducted every year by the Employment and Technical Education & Training (ETET) Department, Government of Odisha through the following website: www.ojee.nic.in. This counseling is also conducted for Engineering and Architecture courses.
The Employment and Technical Education & Training (ETET) Department conducts this counseling in 2 rounds. The first round or the ‘Provisional Allotment Round’ is for all students and has reservations for all categories. The second round of counseling, known as the ‘Final Allotment Round’ is conducted for seats that are left vacant after the first round.

What percentage of seats is the counseling conducted for?
The counseling is conducted for the all the seats in Government Medical and Dental colleges as well as for all the seats in Private Medical Colleges (MBBS courses). All these seats are reserved for candidates who belong to Odisha only.
Additionally, the counseling is conducted for the 85% seats in Private Dental colleges in Odisha which are reserved ‘Odisha State’ or ‘S Category’ candidates.
Admissions into the remaining 15% seats in Private Dental Colleges of Odisha are conducted by the DGHS through a centralized counseling procedure under the ‘All India Quota’ on the basis of AIPMT results through the following website: http://www.mcc.nic.in/mccres/HomePage.aspx#. Candidates from across the country are eligible for these seats.
Please Note: Candidates who do not belong to Odisha can only join BDS (Dental) courses which are offered by the Private Dental Colleges in Odisha under the 15% All India Quota.
What are the eligibility criteria to apply for the counseling?
To be eligible for the for admission to colleges under the ‘Odisha State Category (S Category)’ you should have passed/appeared in your Class 12th exam from a recognized institutions within Odisha. You can also be eligible under this category if your parents are natives of Odisha. Children of Govt. employees serving in Odisha at the time of application are also eligible for admission under the Odisha State Category.
You should not be less than 17 years of age as on the 31st of December of the year of the counseling.
You should have passed your Class 12th examinations with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology as your main subjects. Your aggregate percentage in these 3 subjects should be not less than 50% (45% for PH candidates and 40% for SC/BC candidates). Additionally, you should have passed each of these 3 subjects individually along with English.
Alternatively, you will be eligible for the counseling if you have passed any other examinations which, in scope and standard is found to be equivalent to the 10+2 (Medical Group) of an Indian University/Board taking Physics, Chemistry and Biology including practical test in each of these subjects with the required percentage of marks.
To be eligible for admissions into the MBBS/BDS course, you should have scored not less than 50% in the AIPMT (45% for PH candidates and 40% for SC/BC candidates).
What is the counseling procedure?
Once the results are announced, you will participate in an online counseling procedure which will be conducted by the Employment and Technical Education & Training (ETET) Department, Government of Odisha through the following website: www.ojee.nic.in.
To apply for the counseling, you will need to register on the above mentioned website by entering details about yourself.
After you register on the OJEE website, you will need to select the colleges you wish to join in order of preference. You will have to mark your choices/preferences based on two main factors:
1. The colleges you wish to join.
2. The colleges that are likely to admit you based on your rank. Go through the ranks that were admitted by a particular college last year for your course. You can obtain the ranks of last year from the counseling website.
Base your decision on these two factors and make multiple choices to ensure that you receive an admission. There is no limit on the number of choices you can submit.
It’s equally important to rank your choices correctly. The highest level choice with an available seat will be allotted to you.
Once you fill your choices, you will have to report at the designated ‘Nodal Center’ and get your documents verified as well as pay the counseling fee and university registration fee.
You will need to pay the specified counseling fee and university registration fee through separate Account Payee Bank Drafts, both in favour of ‘OJEE 2013’, payable at Bhubaneswar.
You also have to confirm/lock your choices at the nodal center.
Once you’re allotted a seat after the Final Allotment Round, you will need to print the Allotment Letter and report to the institute within 3 days of the publication of allotment results to confirm your seat.
