You will receive an admission in an Engineering college in Tamil Nadu based on your 12^th class marks. There is a single application to be made to Anna University Chennai http://www.annauniv.edu/ for all the government engineering colleges affiliated to Anna University and some private engineering colleges.

Admissions Process

The applications open in the first week of May. Your class 12^th marks is the sole criterion for admission. They will be converted to a score out of 200. 100 for maths and 50 each for physics and chemistry.

After the university receives all application they create a merit list of all applications received. Students are called for counseling as per their ranks – the highest ranks are called first. The colleges and streams available at the time of your counseling will be informed to you and you will be required to make a choice at that time. The choice once made cannot be changed.

If for some reason, you are unable to attend the counseling at the time allotted to you, you can authorize your parents to attend the counseling on your behalf. The decision they make on your behalf will be binding on you. In case even they cannot attend, you can go for counseling at a later date but you will lose out because you will be able to only choose from colleges and courses available at that time. The best colleges and courses are likely to be filled by then.

Students who have studied class 8^th to 12^th in Tamil Nadu and some others who can prove their nativity to Tamil Nadu.

You can apply online or in person or by post. The application forms can be collected from centres of TNEA. Filled-in offline applications can be submitted either in person or by post along with photocopies of the Mark Sheet(s), Proof of Age and copies of all other relevant certificates to the Secretary, TNEA, Anna University, Chennai – 600 025 on or before the published last date of submission.
