Admissions into the B.E/B.Tech courses take place through an online counseling procedure that is conducted every year by the ‘Directorate of Technical Education, Madhya Pradesh’ through the following websites: http://www.dtempcounselling.org/ and http://www.mptechedu.org/.

The Directorate of Technical Education conducts this counseling in several rounds. The first round is for all students and has reservations for all categories. The second round of counseling is conducted for seats that are left vacant after the first round and so on.

What percentage of seats is the counseling conducted for?

The counseling is conducted for all the seats (100%) in Government, Government Aided, Private and Unaided engineering colleges in Madhya Pradesh.

Out of the total seats that are available for allotment in any Engineering college, 90% will be reserved for Madhya Pradesh State Domiciles. The rest of the 10% seats will be equally divided amongst candidates from across the country (5% seats) and NRI candidates (5%).

Reservations will be applicable in the State Domicile/Quota seats as per current Madhya Pradesh Government norms.

What are the eligibility criteria to apply for the counseling?

To be eligible for the counseling, you should be an Indian citizen and a resident of the state of Madhya Pradesh.

To be considered as a resident of Madhya Pradesh, you must have studied in a recognized institution in Madhya Pradesh for a minimum continuous period of three years out of the five years of Higher Secondary Education (Class 8th – Class 12th). Such candidates will be treated as residents of Madhya Pradesh.

You will also eligible for the counseling if you are a child of an Employee or Pensioner of the Government of Madhya Pradesh or an employee of the Government of Madhya Pradesh who died while in service or if you’re a child of an officer of the All India Services born on the cadre of Madhya Pradesh.

You will be eligible for the counseling if you’re the child of the child of an employee of the Central Government provided that your parent was posted or stationed in Madhya Pradesh before the 1st of January of the year of the exam.

Candidates who are the children of a person who has settled in Madhya Pradesh on the basis of a Central Government scheme or a scheme sanctioned by the Government of Madhya Pradesh will also be eligible to appear for the counseling.

For admission into the B.E/B.Tech courses, you would need to have passed your Class 12th or equivalent examinations with Physics, Math and either one of Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology as your main subjects.

Additionally, your aggregate percentage in the above mentioned subjects should not be less than 45% (40% for SC/ST/OBC candidates) in your Class 12th or equivalent exams.

Candidates who are appearing for their Class 12th or equivalent examinations in the same year as the counseling are also eligible to apply. However, they should submit their final mark sheets at the time of document verification or their admission will be cancelled.

What is the counseling procedure?

Once the JEE (Main) results are announced, you will participate in an online counseling procedure which will be conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Madhya Pradesh through the following websites: http://www.dtempcounselling.org/ and http://www.mptechedu.org/.

You will have to register online on either of the following websites:  www.dtempcounselling.org and www.mponline.gov.in.

To register, you will need to make the payment towards the registration fee online through a Debit/Credit Card or through Internet Banking. You can also choose to pay offline.

After you make the payment, you will receive a password which can be used to log in to the above website and make your choices.

All candidates that have their name in the merit/rank list will have to appear for document verification at specified verification /help centers.

The time, venue and date of the document verification will be mentioned on the counseling website. Make sure you reach the specified location on time with original and certified copies of all your documents including your Admit Card, Class 10th and 12th mark sheets etc.

Once your documents are verified, you will have to make your choices with regards to the course and college you wish to join and lock them in due time on the counseling website.

You will have to select the courses and colleges you wish to join in order of preference. Mark your choices/preferences based on two main factors:

1. The colleges and courses you seek.

2. The colleges and courses that are likely to admit you based on your rank. Go through the ranks that were admitted by a particular college last year for your course. You can obtain the ranks of last year from the counseling website.

Base your decision on these two factors and make multiple choices to ensure that you receive an admission. There is no limit on the number of choices you can submit.

It’s equally important to rank your choices correctly. The highest level choice with an available seat will be allotted to you.

Once the results are out and you’re allotted a seat, you will need to report to the counseling center/institute in due time and submit the admission fee to confirm your seat or you can choose to appear for the next round of counseling.
