Admissions will take place through an online counseling procedure also known as CAP or Centralized Admission Process which will be conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Maharashtra. All candidates are admitted on the basis of the ‘Merit List’ created by the DTE – Maharashtra. Merit list is created for Maharashtra candidates by assigning percentile based 50 percent weightage to the 12th exam score and 50 percent weightage to JEE Main score. Merit list for All India candidates is based on the score on the JEE Main exam.

Counseling will be conducted in 3 rounds, with the last round only meant for students who are domiciles of the state of Maharashtra.

The counseling will be conducted for 100% seats in Government and Govt. Aided engineering colleges as well as 75% - 80% of the seats in Private, Unaided engineering colleges in Maharashtra.

Additionally, out of the seats that are available for counseling in private un-aided colleges, around 80% - 85% will be reserved for candidates from Maharashtra and the rest will be available for allotment for candidates from other states of the country.

What is the counseling procedure?

You will have to undertake the counseling procedure online at the Department of Technical Education, Maharashtra, website: http://www.dtemaharashtra.gov.in/

Register on the website by entering your personal details including information like your JEE (Main) Roll Number etc.

You will be able to choose the colleges you wish to apply to. You will be able to see the cut – offs for various colleges and courses. The options you can choose from will be available to you based on your merit calculated on the basis of your JEE Main score.

If a seat has been allotted to you, you will see a virtual document mentioning the institution and relevant details regarding the seat. If you’re satisfied with the seat, you should report to the college by the date mentioned in the document. At the college, your documents will be verified and your admission will be confirmed by uploading your details online.

In case you are not happy with the seat, you would need to apply for the 2nd round of counseling by upgrading or adding new college/course choices. The available colleges and courses in the second and subsequent rounds reduce significantly. It pays to make the right choices the first time.
