Madhya Pradesh Medical Admissions

Madhya Pradesh does not have its own medical entrance exam. Students are admitted into Medical and Dental colleges in Madhya Pradesh on the basis of their results in the AIPMT (All India Pre Medical Test).

Admissions into the medical courses take place through a counseling procedure that is conducted every year by the Directorate of Medical Education, Madhya Pradesh.

What percentage of seats is the counseling conducted for?

The counseling is conducted for the 85% ‘State Quota’ seats in Government Medical and Dental colleges as well as 50% ‘Government/State Quota’ seats in Private Medical and Dental colleges in Madhya Pradesh.

The State/Government Quota seats will be divided amongst different reserved categories as per the ongoing reservation norms of the Madhya Pradesh State Government.

Admissions into the remaining 15% seats in Government Medical and Dental colleges are conducted by the DGHS under the ‘All India Quota’ on the basis of AIPMT results through the following website: http://www.mcc.nic.in/mccres/HomePage.aspx#.

Admissions into the remaining 50% seats in Private Medical and Dental colleges are not conducted by Directorate of Medical Education, Madhya Pradesh. Contact the college/association directly for further details.

What are the eligibility criteria to apply for the counseling?

To be eligible for the counseling, you must be a citizen of India and a resident of the State of Madhya Pradesh.

You should not be less than 17 years of age as on the 31st of December of the year of the counseling.

You should have passed your Class 12th examinations with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology as your main subjects. Your aggregate percentage in these 3 subjects should be not less than 50% (45% for PH candidates and 40% for SC/ST candidates). Additionally, you should have passed each of these 3 subjects individually along with English.

Alternatively, you will be eligible for the counseling if you have passed any other examinations which, in scope and standard is found to be equivalent to the 10+2 (Medical Group) of an Indian University/Board taking Physics, Chemistry and Biology including practical test in each of these subjects with the required percentage of marks.

To be eligible for admissions into the MBBS/BDS course, you should have scored not less than 50% in the AIPMT (45% for PH candidates and 40% for SC/ST candidates).

What is the counseling procedure?

Once the results are announced, you will participate in an online counseling procedure which will be conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education, Government of Madhya Pradesh through the following website: http://www.mponline.gov.in/.

To apply for the counseling, you will need to register on the above mentioned website by entering details about yourself.

You will also need to make the payment for the specified amount online through a Credit/Debit card or through Internet banking. Remember to print the payment receipt as it can be used during further correspondence with the board.

Once you register on the website, you will have to report at the designated ‘Help Center’ with originals and copies of all your documents including Class 12th mark sheets, AIPMT admit card etc. for verification.  If your documents are found to be correct, you will be given an ‘Eligibility Certificate’.

After your documents have been verified, you will need to select the colleges you wish to join in order of preference. You will have to mark your choices/preferences based on two main factors:

1. The colleges you wish to join.

2. The colleges that are likely to admit you based on your rank. Go through the ranks that were admitted by a particular college last year for your course. You can obtain the ranks of last year from the counseling website.

Base your decision on these two factors and make multiple choices to ensure that you receive an admission. There is no limit on the number of choices you can submit.

It’s equally important to rank your choices correctly. The highest level choice with an available seat will be allotted to you.

You will have to lock/confirm your choices within the specified duration by making the necessary payment online. Choices once locked cannot be changed.

Once you’re allotted a seat after the Final Round, you will need to print the Allotment Letter and report to the institute within the specified duration to confirm your seat along with originals and 2 sets of copies of all your documents and admission fee.
