Students are admitted into Medical colleges in Jharkhand on the basis of their results in the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examination (JCECE). This is followed by a counseling procedure that is conducted by the Jharkhand Combined Entrance Competitive Examinations Board (JCECEB).

Eligibility
To take the exam, you must be a resident of the state of Jharkhand. Applicants must pass Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Bio-technology and English individually and must obtain a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/ Biotechnology in the 10+2 qualifying examination. To be admitted, you must complete 17 years at the time of admission or before 31st December of the year of your admission.
Test Details
You will choose the PCB option and take a 150 question test, 50 questions each from Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The questions will be objective type with four answer options to choose from for each question. A right response will get you 1 mark whereas a wrong answer will deduct a 1/4 mark from your total. The test will be 3 hours long.
Results
A merit list will be published based on the perfromance in the JCECE. This list will be used for the purpose of allotment of seats.
Counselling
Counselling will be offline. Candidates will be called for counselling as per the merit list. Keep track of the dates etc through the website of JCECB. Candidates will have to carry all original documents at the time of counselling and choose from the course and college options available at the time they are called. Since candidates are invited as per the merit list, the higest ranked student will have the entire range of options available. As the seats keep getting filled, the choices keep getting reduced for candidates lower down in the merit list.
It's important that you are clear about your preference at the time that you go for counselling. You will have to select the colleges you wish to join in order of preference. Rank the colleges you seek in order of your preference before you go for counselling.
What percentage of seats is the counseling conducted for?
The counseling is conducted for the 85% ‘State Quota’ seats in Government Medical and Dental colleges in Jharkhand. The State/Government Quota seats will be divided amongst different reserved categories as per the ongoing reservation norms of the Jharkhand State Government.
Admissions into the remaining 15% seats in Government Medical and Dental colleges are conducted by the DGHS under the ‘All India Quota’ on the basis of AIPMT results through the following website: http://www.mcc.nic.in/mccres/HomePage.aspx#.
