The Stage 1 exam consists of four sections – Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. Physics and Chemistry are compulsory subjects. Engineering candidates have to attempt Math along with Physics and Chemistry, whereas Medical candidates have to attempt Biology along with Physics and Chemistry.

The total marks for Stage 1 is 150, with each subject carrying 50 marks. The paper will be objective type, with four options for each question.

The Stage 1 exam will be one paper consisting of four different parts (Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics) out of which you only have to attempt three parts.

Stage 2:

The candidates who have passed their Stage 1 exam are eligible for the Stage 2 exam.

The Stage 2 exam consists of four different papers – Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics. Physics and Chemistry are compulsory subjects. Engineering candidates have to attempt Math along with Physics and Chemistry, whereas Medical candidates have to attempt Biology along with Physics and Chemistry.

The paper will be objective type, with four options for each question.

Each paper will be of 400 marks with a total of 100 questions (4 marks for each question).

The duration of each paper will be 1 and a half hours.

You should not attempt questions you do not have the answers to as there will be negative marking. One mark will be deducted from the total score for every wrong answer.

All the Stage 2 exams are held on the same day. In 2013, the Physics exam was from 9.00 A.M. to 10.30 A.M. The Chemistry exam was from 11.00 A.M. to 12.30 P.M. The Mathematics exam was from 2.00 P.M. to 3.30 P.M and the Biology exam was from 4.00 P.M. to 5.30 P.M.

What do you do after you get your results?

The medical counseling will be conducted for 85% ‘State Quota’ seats in Government and Government Aided Medical and Dental Colleges in Bihar. These seats are reserved only for Bihar Domiciles.

Admissions into the remaining 15% seats in Government Medical and Dental colleges in Bihar are conducted by the DGHS under the ‘All India Quota’ on the basis of AIPMT results through the following website: http://www.mcc.nic.in/mccres/HomePage.aspx#.

The engineering counseling is conducted for all the State Quota seats (100%) in Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges in Bihar and 50% State Quota seats in Private Engineering Colleges in Bihar.

Admissions into the remaining 50% seats are not conducted by the BCECEB. Contact the college directly for admissions under this category.

Your goal is to get admission in a suitable course at a suitable college. The test result along with the college/course specific eligibility criteria become the basis for the admission.

Once the results are announced, you will participate in an offline counseling procedure which is conducted by the ‘Bihar Combined Entrance Competitive Examination Board ’ or BCECEB.

You will not be eligible for admission into a college if you or your authorized representative do not report for the counseling personally.

Before you report for the counseling, make sure you research in detail about the courses and colleges you can join through this counseling procedure. You should be clear about at least your top 5 choices/preference before you step in the hall for counseling.

Make your choices/preferences based on two main factors:

1. The course and colleges you wish to join.

2. The course and colleges that are likely to admit you based on your rank. Go through the ranks that were admitted by a particular college last year for your course. You can obtain the ranks of last year from the counseling website.

Base your decision on these two factors and consider multiple choices to ensure that you receive an admission.

You will need to reach the counseling venue- ‘BCECE Board, IAS Association Building, Patna’ on the specified date. Reach the venue in time along with all your important documents for verification along with one self attested photo for each document.

Once you reach the venue and the counseling begins, you will be allotted a seat on the basis of your choices and your rank and your documents will be verified.

You will have to reach the college/institute in which you’ve been granted admission within the specified duration along with all your documents and admission fee so as to confirm your admission.

For further information regarding the counseling procedure, please visit the following website:  http://bceceboard.com.
